The Prince’s Ates is an originally authored and illustrated children’s book. It tells the story of a young prince who has four loving and overbearing ates (or “older sisters” in Tagalog, one of the many languages of the Philippines). Prince Freddy learns about loneliness as he wishes his loud house suddenly becomes quiet after he makes a tearful wish. As an eldest sister of five children, I pull from the craziness that comes with sibling dynamics, but most importantly the love that is intertwined with the insanity.
